Happy Holidays
The womens soccer team hopes you had a blessed and happy Thanksgiving. We
hope you took the time out to enjoy your holiday and reflect on the things you are
grateful for. The great thing about that is you dont necessarily have to be grateful for
the physical things in life, but the memories you gave gathered over the past months.

In early November the Lady Tigers ended their season in the semi-finals of the
SWAC tournament. The Tigers defeated Prairie View in the first round of tournament
with a score of 1-0 with a goal from Alisa Holloway and a shutout for goalkeeper, Alexis
Robles. This was a great accomplishment by the team because TSU soccer has never
made it past the first round of tournament. The Tigers fell to Alabama State 2-1 in the
semi-finals. Although this was not the outcome we were hoping for, it was the greatest
stepping stone the program could of had. The team finished the season with a record of
11-7-1, the best in program history and that is something to be thankful for. We are
thankful for our supporters and the seniors who left a legacy of never giving up.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Mahatma Gandhi said, Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in
harmony. To often we are so busy trying to figure out what we are supposed to say or do, we dont
stay true to ourselves. You work best when your values match up with your purpose, and your purpose
match up with your goals.

This past week I spent four intense days at the NCAA Womens Coaches Academy. On the front of my
binder was a picture that asked, Are you happy? Yes? No? Then it went on to show through a pattern
that no matter if we are happy or unhappy that is our responsibility. We may not be able to control
what is happening around us but we have complete control to what is happening within us. If your are
happy keep doing what you are doing, but if you are not happy you need to change something.

My suggestion is to follow Gandhis advice by aligning what you think, say and do. Stop hiding behind
who you thought everyone wanted you to be and be true to you. There is no one like you. You are one
of a kind. You matter. Finish the year strong and in harmony.
