October 3rd, 2017 - Greg Levy, Associate

Dean of University of Miami Sports Law, spoke
to the club about controversial topics in sports, such as
Deflate-Gate, and the Ezekiel Elliot case. Levy's knowledge
of law offered a different perspective than normal
meetings, analyzing controversies from behind the scenes.

Levy oversees the program and helps to set up students at
firms long term.

October 10th, 2017 - Dan Treadway, Deputy Editor of The

Player's Tribune, returned to talk to Sports Business Club
for the second time, as he spoke to the club last year. In one
of the most-attended meetings of the year, Treadway
shared his experiences interviewing athletes for articles.
Some of these included going to the house of former NBA
star Paul Pierce, and also talking with Coach James
Franklin. Having been at The Player's Tribune since the
very beginning, Treadway spoke about the evolution of the
content of the website and his job. As of recently, some free
agent decisions have been made on The Player's Tribune.
Today, Dan Treadway mainly works with College Football,
and is currently working with Former LSU Football Coach
Les Miles on his new podcast, Les is More.

October 17th, 2017 - Keith Urgo, Penn State Basketball

Assistant Coach, spoke to the club about his unique job, and
unconventional path to getting it. Urgo, who played college
basketball at Fairfield University, originally worked in the
business world until he decided he wanted to be a
basketball coach. Urgo started coaching at the high school
level in Washington D.C, but eventually worked his way up
to be an assistant coach at Villanova. He came to Penn State
with current Head Basketball Coach, Pat Chambers. Urgo
also spoke about his day-to-day routine, which includes
traveling throughout the northeast to different high schools
to recruit players, as well as helping run practices. While
Urgo was in college, he went to South Africa to help build
basketball courts and set up games for citizens there.
Urgo's unique experiences were certainly intriguing

SBC Around Campus:

IM Sports Updates: Walk to end Alzheimers:

SBC IM sports continued strong

during the month of October.
Both football teams enter
November with a 2-1 record and
are looking strong as the playoff
push continues. Although both
teams benefited from an
automatic win due to rain, they
feel confident as the post season
approaches. Come cheer on the
Sports Business Club Monday
nights and watch as both teams
defy odds in hopes of raising a
banner.
The yearly walk to end Alzheimers
disease happened in the last
weekend of October. Many
supporters of the cause made the
trek around Beaver Stadium after a
motivating opening speech from
Coach Pat Chambers. There were
spinning flowers and purple shirts
everywhere from the start at Medlar
Field, to the end at the same site.
The Sports Business Club sent three
of their members to walk, and they
represented the club well. We hope
to continue participating in
community events such as this walk
in the future!

the two meet in the SEC championship, and
both teams look as close to a sure thing for the

as Franklin continues to preach focusing on
one week at a time. Should they take care of

features 4 non-ranked Big Ten opponents. An

number 3 Ohio State should be more than a
good enough resume to push Penn State into
the playoffs. All Penn State can do right now is
control the controllables, and that all starts in
East Lansing.
