S PORTS BUSINESS CLUB MARCH/APRIL

Issue #1 January
Meetings:

This semester started off with a welcome back

meeting where we introduced our executive board
for this semester and previewed some of the
speakers that we would have in the coming weeks. In
the following week, we held an internship panel. The
panel consisted of Justin Lucker, Sydney Eckert, Alan
McGlone, Kaitlyn Vander Woude, and Mike Reasor,
who explained to members the daily responsibilities
of internships that they have worked. Some of these
internships included the Washington Redskins, Penn Welcome Back Meeting
State Football, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. All the
speakers had tremendous insight, knowledge, and
advice to share. We continued our internship
preparation theme at the next meeting, where we
taught members how to use teamworkonline.com, a
website that posts sports-related internship
openings around the United States. This could be a
very useful tool for all of our members that are
looking for an internship in sports. The final meeting
of the month was a pasta party benefitting THON. We
want to thank everyone who came out to meetings
this month, and we are excited to announce that we
have a stacked meeting schedule coming up in
February. This begins on Tuesday February 6th,
where Daniel Solomon of Penn State Sports
Properties will be coming to talk with us. Another
notable speaker coming up in February is Joey
Brander of ESPN and Yahoo. We will keep everyone

these people because they

go hungry for that meal. The
Sports Business Club
members who participated in
this described it as a
“humbling and rewarding

THON UPDATES:

This month, Sports Business Club got our

first THON family! Our members
welcomed the Coldsmiths to Happy
Valley with a day full of fun. We went
bowling, ate at the creamery, and took
photos at the lion shrine. We are super
excited to see them again THON
weekend! We have increased our
fundraising total over $12,000 thanks to a
great pasta dinner last week. Members
enjoyed all you can eat pasta while
benefitting THON. We also made special
15th birthday cards for Erica!
