ENGLISH PHYSICS TEST

EQUILIBRIUM OF RIGID BODY EXPERIMENTS

Members of the group:

Tools and materials:

- 4 pieces of chopsticks
- 2 pieces of plasticine
- 4 pieces of rubber bands

Steps:

1. First of all, prepare the tools and materials to be used in the experiment.
2. Take three chopsticks and then combine them to form a triangle where a
chopstick is placed in the middle of the triangle.
3. After that, tie the four corners of the triangle using four pieces of rubber
bands.
4. Take 2 pieces of plasticine with the same size.
5. Then, puncture on both parts of the chopsticks that have been made as the
triangle.
6. Test it by placing a triangle on one finger. If the plasticine is one-sided,
then transfer the plasticine to the other side so that the weight is equal.
7. Then, shake the plasticine, if the plasticine does not fall, it means that the
weight is equal or in other words it is equilibrium.
8. Then, try to place it at the corners of the table, if plasticine does not fall, it
means that the weight is equal or in other words it is equilibrium.
Experimental Script

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb. and Good Afternoon everybody

Desi : Let us introduce ourself, we are from physics group want to do

experiment about Equilibrium of Rigid Body. Before that, i will introduce
members of our group, I am Desi Novianti, call me Desi.

Nurul : I am Nurul Syatiqa, call me Ayi.

Nurfa : And I am Nurfa Yanti, call me Nurfa.

Nurul : Friends, you must have studied or heard about the equilibrium of a rigid
body, right?

Nurfa : You also must have heard about the center point of the mass of a thing,
right?

Nurul : Now, we will do the experiment that can give knowledge about what the
center point of mass is and what equilibrium of the rigid body is.

Desi : Well, we have prepared the tools and materials that we will use in this
experiment. The tools and materials are 4 pieces of chopsticks, 2 pieces of
plasticine and 4 pieces of rubber bands.

Nurul : The 4 pieces of chopsticks are combined and tied with the rubber bands
to form a triangle like this. (showing how to combine the four chopsticks to form
a triangle).

Nurfa : After that, take 2 pieces of plasticine with a same size. Then puncture on
both parts of the chopsticks that had been made as triangle before.

Desi : Test it by placing the triangle on one finger. If the plasticine is one-sided,
then transfer the plasticine to the other side so that the weight is equal.

Nurul : If the plasticine is shaken, plasticine wont fall because the weight is
equal or in other words its equilibrium.
Nurfa : Now, we try to place it at the corners of the table, if its shaken like
before then the plasticine wont fall because the plasticine is equilibrium.

Nurul : Not only that, if plasticine is pressed down, it also will not fall.

Desi : This is the meant of equilibrium of a rigid body, where at center of the
triangle is called the center point of the mass that makes the object balance.

Nurul : Maybe most of you think that this is strange, but in physics there is
strange thing about this experiment.

Desi : Well, this could be something new for you guys. Interesting isnt it?
Nurfa : Thats all experiment about the equilibrium of rigid body, we hope all
you can understand the meaning of equilibrium of rigid body.

Conclusion:

Equilibrium is an object condition with force resultant and force moment

resultant equals to zero.
