Amsterdam Youth Force Traineeship Positions

Terms of Reference

1. Introduction: With the support of Aidsfonds, the Amsterdam Youth Force (AYF) is looking for 4
trainees to support the work of the organization in the run up to the International AIDS Conference,
to be held in Amsterdam in July 2018. Each trainee will be responsible for leading one of its 4
thematic working groups (WG): Communications & Media, Events & Engagement, Advocacy, and
Programme.

2. Duration: Part-time commitment (up to 36 hours per week) for 6 months (Start as soon as possible,
but no later than 23 January 2018).

3. Remuneration: A monthly stipend will be provided in accordance to the regulations of our sponsor
(Aidsfonds) and Dutch law.

4. Reporting Line: The 4 trainees will be reporting to the AYF at two levels: programmatically to the
Secretary General of the AYF Secretariat and to one of the members of the Steering Committee
members who will act as mentor.

5. Conditions: According to the regulations of our sponsor (Aidsfonds), the trainees must prove that
they are current students and are enrolled in an academic programme (undergraduate or graduate
studies at any University). Trainees with an affinity for working in SRHR and/or HIV/AIDS, as well as
people living with HIV, differently abled people, those of any orientation or religion are strongly
encouraged to apply.

6. General Responsibilities:
Lead, engage, inspire, support and guide the members of their respective WG, in a way that
everyone feels appreciated, empowered, and committed to the AYFs mission and values.
Ensure that each WG delivers what is expected of them before, during, and after the
International AIDS Conference 2018. These goals will be set by the Steering Committee of
the AYF.
Develop and propose the budget of the respective WG (including the collection of receipts
and invoices), and liaise with the Secretary General for approval and execution.
Maintain a constant flow of communications with the AYF Secretariat, and if requested, to
the AYF Steering Committee directly.
Prepare weekly reports to the AYF Secretariat every Friday about the activities.
Any other task set by either the AYF Secretariat or the AYF Steering Committee

7. Responsibilities and requirements per Working Group:


Communications & Media:
Content management and innovation
Social media skills: maintenance of our communication channels ( Facebook,
Instagram etc.)
Google analytics and outreach experience are a plus
Responsible for the upkeep and shaping of our upcoming website
Events & Engagement:
Logistical support of all future AYF events in NL and abroad
Liaise with suppliers and providers
Keep the calendar of AYF events up to date
Logistical and strong organisational skills are needed
Coordinate with countries around the world to host events in the name of the
Amsterdam Youth Force
Advocacy:
Work on a policy paper
Build an international network of youth organizations and activists in all regions to
provide input for the working group
Management of the crowd-sourced mission statement
Work closely with the advocacy members to develop trainings
Programme:
Follow up on proposals for the AYF agenda and submissions for AIDS 2018
Management of the programme team to ensure members are working on the
projects that they have been assigned.
Build collaborations and partnerships with sexual and reproductive health and rights
organisations nationally and internationally
Provide support for communication and support on content generation and in depth
pieces that focus on all key populations and at risk groups/regions
