Definition of self portrait

What is the self-portrait?

The self-portrait is a filing of the personality and vanity of the person according the niew of the
historian Spanish Calvo Serraller.

Occur some reasons by which the artist is self portrait than they are:

1. wish of To know oneself and appear its facet

2. It's a reflexive act
3. Be known to such an extent that the expression he has at that moment is translated into the
drawing or painting he addresses.
4. In a self-portrait the subjectivity of the artist intervenes, since the painter or photographer is
represented through his own look: his mood is manifested in the choice of the pose, the
gestures, the colors of his clothes and his skin
5. Is realized by looking in a mirror other times painters are portrayed as "they think" themselves
or how they are remembered
