1: Identification of UAV components

Aim: To study about the various components of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.

Equipment Required: Aircraft Models

Theory:

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is an aircraft with no pilot on board. UAVs can be
remote controlled aircraft (e.g. flown by a pilot at a ground control station) or can fly
autonomously based on pre-programmed flight plans or more complex dynamic automation
systems. UAVs are currently used for a number of missions, including reconnaissance and
attack roles. The UAVs are generally classified in to Fixed wing, Rotary wing and Ornithopter.
The major component of UAV are Wings, Fuselage and Empennage.

Parts of an UAV and their function are mentioned below in tabular form.
S.No UAV Parts Function of the part
(1) Wing Generate lift to hold airplane in air.
Generate thrust to overcome the drag and to move in forward
(2) Jet Engine
direction
(3) Fuselage (Body) Holds all parts together
(4) Slats To increase airplane lift during takeoff and landing
(5) Spoiler To reduce plane speed
(6) Aileron Roll the wings side ward direction
(7) Flaps Increase lift and drag of airplane during takeoff and landing
(8) Elevator Deflect the tail of the airplane up and down motion
(9) Rudder Deflect the tail direction to the left and right side
To maintain the balance of the airplane from swinging side ward
(10) Vertical Stabilizer
directions
Horizontal
(11) To maintain the balance of the airplane from moving up-and-down
Stabilizer

Result:

Thus the study about the various components of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle has been done.
