coefficient c if the system is to be critically damped. If the
system has an initial angular velocity of 5 rad/s
countclockwise, determine the angular displacement and
angular velocity after 0.3 s. Assume small oscillations.
9. The system shown in Fig. P9 consists of a uniform bar of
length 1, mass m, and mass moment of inertia I. The bar is
supported by a spring and damper which have stiffness and
damping coefficients k and c, respectively. Derive the
differential equation of motion and determine the system
natural frequency and the critical damping coefficient.
