    DEFINITION OF A CHILD
    MALAYSIA:
    a. S2 (a) of the Child Act 20011 defines a child as a person below 18 years, and in
    relation to criminal offences, S82 of the Penal Code2.
    b. S2 Adoption Act 1952 defines child as those below 18 years.
    c. Children and Young Persons (Employment) Act 1966 defines a child as 14 years
    and below.
    d. Guardianship of Infants Act 1961 S2 (a) for Muslims its below 18 years. For non-
    Muslims its below 21

    INTERNATIONAL:
    a. Article 1 UN Convention of the Rights of a Child: person below 18 years of age.
