Acknowledgement
Students well-being and mental health is vitally important, and there are high levels of
untreated problems. The reports review the state of happiness in the city of Kota and show
how the students are satisfied and by which factors they are mostly affected by it. Today
Happiness Index reflect a new worldwide demand for more attention to happiness as a
criteria for government policy. There has been a trend from the first World Happiness Index
survey of 2012 which is to focus on happiness which provides a better indicator of human
welfare than do income, poverty, education, health and good government measured
separately. The city Kota famous for its coaching students of AIPMT and IIT segment which
host over 1 Lakh students from various parts of the country. To know the details of students
living Kota, the students of School of Management & Commerce Studies, Career Point
University embarked on a mission to conduct a research on the HAPPINESS INDEX OF KOTA
2016-17.
This survey consumed huge amount of time, hard work, research and dedication. School of
management and commerce, Career Point University wishes to thank students who have
supported us in our endeavours.

Title Study on Happiness Index Kota of Students.

Objective of the study To Study Happiness index in Kota City.
To identify causes of Happiness in students segment.
To recommend measures for a happiest student life.
To draw out the outlay to be followed by every student in its day-

to-day life.
Research design
The data was collected from 107 respondents comprising of

students from different part of city. The data was collected by
using structured questionnaires with a few subjective questions
responded by the interviewer.
The analysis is done by using MS Excel and interpretations by using

charts and graphs.
Sample size 107 Questionnaires of Students

Process of Study
The survey was designed by the students of Project steering group, with representatives as
well as students themselves. By involving key stakeholders we were able to ensure we
asked relevant and clear questions. The survey was completed by participants through
written communications and face to face contact from students to complete the survey.
The survey team also visited every part of the city to collect the data. All students were
given an explanation as to the purpose and content of the survey and where the
information would be used.
Introduction of Happiness Index

Denmark took the top spot as the happiest country in the world, displacing Switzerland,
according to The World Happiness Report 2016, published by the Sustainable Development
Solutions Network (SDSN), a global initiative of the United Nations. The U.S. is ranked 13th,
coming behind Australia (9) and Israel (11).
The index shows six key variables that contribute to the total score, relative to the
hypothetical country called Dystopia representing the worst score from the 2013-15
index.

At the Emirate level, when Dubai Plan 2021 was launched in December of 2014, Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, The first objective for the Dubai Plan 2021 is
achieving peoples happiness.
Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje had taken her initiative by meting up with the district
collectors and asked them to be more sensitive while carrying out relief works in the
prevailing drought-like situation.
CM also said that her government is committed to improving 'Khushhali (happiness) Index'
of Rajasthan and take it to the league of top performing states.
She urged that the Team Rajasthan should gear up to achieve the vision of a healthy,
educated, gender sensitive, economically well-developed and prosperous Rajasthan.
In the wake of the recent deaths of children with special needs, She asked the collectors
and other officers to do regular and surprise inspections of homes for the specially-abled,
children's homes, hostels and old-age homes.
General Aspects
The care of human life and happiness is the only legitimate object of good government
Thomas Jefferson (1809). It has been observed that the Kota city which is well known for its
students are not happy with the overall wellbeing, economic development, and with
government initiatives.

of 107 students from different schools, coaching

Out of 107 students surveyed 36.3% people had ranked IV which is very low to the city
of Kota. Almost 62.6% peoples had ranked the happiness of city below Rank V. Which
shows the dissatisfaction level of the citizens towards the city.

According to the survey , 33.6% of students marked 6 on the happiness scale of range
0-10, where 0 symbolizes not at all happy and 10 symbolizes very happy. Only 1.8% of
students felt very happy while 0.93% are not at all happy. Most of the students had
given a reason of lack of well-being behaviour of citizens towards each other.

growth and development.

On the nominal scale of range 0-10 , where 0 is not at all happy and 10 is very much
happy , the survey states that 35.51% student have rated them as 8, predicting their
future happiness ,while 20.5% students have rated their happiness as 7 and 1.8% rated
there happiness ranked at same on 1 and 10 scale.

The survey reflected students life is rewarding or not , 76% students agreed to the
statement while 24% disagreed somewhat because of the absence of positivity in life.

The survey results the current happiness amongst their family members , Only 3.7%
rated their family as very happy, while 36% rated their family 8 on scale of 0-10 , where
0 is not at all happy and 10 is very much happy. While 22.4% are representing there
family on the scale of neutral (Rank 5), Still 29.9% of the students from the total sample
survey of students segment had rated there family below Rank5.

These days, work-life balance can seem like an impossible feat. Technology makes
workers accessible around the clock. In day-to-day work life balance of a student 15%
students are dissatisfied and 19% dont know about their work life balance with is very
disappointing.

The more parent and community involvement activities focus on improving student
learning, the more student learning improves. Children whose parents are advocates for
them at school are more confident at school and take on and achieve more. The more
families advocate for their children and support their childrens progress, the better
their children do. According to the survey highest number of students are very satisfied
with their relations with family members but some what 18% and 12% are still
dissatisfied and very dissatisfied by their relationship with family members which need
to be decrease in future aspects.
It is very shocking that 1/4th of the population of students are dissatisfied, a very
disturbing result states that 10% of students dont know about their occupation in life
and only 15% are very satisfied with their occupation. The local authorities,
government, parents and collogues should take care of each and every students from
the initial stage of life to decide there desired occupation in life.
A healthy student is a happy student and from the survey it has been observed that only
56% students are very satisfied, satisfied and neutral, but the rest of them are still from
dissatisfied and very dissatisfied segment.

When asked about their terms with citizens of Kota , the survey stays that
When I am sick- 72% says people will come for my help and 28% says people
will turn their backs.
When I have financial problems 16% of the surveyed people say people will aid
to overcome financial problem and remaining 84% denied of getting any help in
case of financial problem
When I have some emotional problem- 34% people says that yes people will
entertain to my problems and rest says that people will not aid in case of
emotional problems.

When I have to attend important personal events (child birth, funeral etc)- 85%
people agreed that yes people will support them while 15% refused support of
people .

Most of the students feels that they lost much sleep more than usual, Considering the
graph there are very less students who feel that they couldnt overcome with there
difficulties in life this also represents the confidence level of students, More than usual

INTERPRETATION-
When asked about sense of belongingness with kota city , 32% says that
they are very much attached to the city , 54% states that they have some
what strong feeling for the city , 9% have very weak feelings for the city
while rest do not bother about the same.

Conclusion
There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are
beyond the power of our will. The key for a happier life is to be connected with peoples
around you, take care of your wealth, life mindfully, have goals to look forward, found
ways to bounce back, by looking after what is good and be comfortable with who you
are.
Everywhere, whether it is within the family, academics or any social and economic
activity. Likewise, mismatch between the demands placed on students and their abilities
to meet those demands can result in anxiety.
