Schindler's List is a 1993 film based on
Thomas Keneally's Schindler's Ark novel, published in the United States under the title Schindler's List and then circulated back in Commonwealth countries with that title. The film, adapted by Steven Zaillian and directed by Steven Spielberg, tells the story of Oskar Schindler, a German Catholic businessman who plays a role in saving the lives of over a thousand Polish Jews during the Holocaust. The title refers to a list of the names of 1,100 Jews employed by Schindler at his factory and therefore not sent to concentration camps.. This film shows the world about the vile facts of Nazi atrocities against Jews. However, for a country like Indonesia with a predominantly Muslim population, a Jewish theme film is a sensitive issue.
