Motivation technique when student does not respond

Sometimes a student does not respond to a question or is evasive. The following strategy will help stimulate an
appropriate response thereby motivating the students willingness to participate.

Strategy:
1. Give hints and/or prompts
2. Ask another student to help YOU out and ask the original student to clarify if the answer is correct
3. Avoid put downs but hold responsible.

Example:
Question:
o What should you do when someone gets hurt in shop Joyce?
Answer:
o I dont knowor no answer
Response:
o It has something to do with first aid.
o Lets see if Mary can help ME out. Joyce is that correct?
o Never say. You should know something like that. This is an easy one.
