Instructor Biography

Kris Carlile

Just a little about me. I grew up here in Southern

Salt Lake County and attended Bingham High
School.

I began mountaineering about 15 years ago at

Dimple Dell Recreation Center. A good friend of
mine was heavily into to climbing so with his help
we started coming every Saturday morning for
about 2 years. We really enjoyed our time
climbing getting in shape and developing our
skills with the rope and the rock. It was at that
time I began bringing my nephews and nieces out
to the climbing gym and began teaching them
how to climb and learn the skills of
mountaineering, some of them now have become
better mountaineers than I will admit to. Today
we still come to Dimple Dell but also include
many different outside climbs in the foothills
located around the Wasatch Front. We are blessed with many great spots close to home to
enjoy sport and recreation climbing.

Most recently I completed the high altitude and vertical rescue course through the Univ. of
Utah and the Firefighter building escape class at the West Valley Fire Academy.

So Im a firm believer in starting with fundamentals and continue to learn and develop in
this very challenging but rewarding sport.
