Under Philippine jurisdiction, a person may be natural or juridical in nature.

According to

the Civil Code of the Philippines (1947), a natural person is one whose personality is

determined by birth and extinguished by death while a juridical person is one whose personality

is constituted by law.

The law requires that a fetus should be alive after it is completely delivered from the

mothers womb to be acknowledged as a natural person. However, for a fetus that had an intra-

uterine life of less than seven months, the law demands that it should live twenty-four hours

after its complete delivery from the maternal womb to.

Juridical persons may be established for public or private interest. The law recognizes

the national government, local government units, publicly listed entities, and private entities as

juridical persons.
