By Krystal Hadley
FADE IN
1 INT. HOUSE - AFTERNOON
The sight of the wall in the entrance of the front door laid
undisturbed. The front door slowly CREAKS open from the side
as the alarm DINGS.
TRACY, a slightly older woman with the taste for wine, walks
through the front door with her coat covering her body and
her bag slung over the shoulder. She is on her phone,
finishing a conversation with her friend.
TRACY
(grumbling)
Ok, Terry. Ill make sure to find
that paper tomorrow. That bastard
wont get away with it. Talk to you
later, girl.
2 INT. HOUSE- KITCHEN- AFTERNOON
Tracy hangs up her phone while moving from her front door to
her kitchen. She emits a sigh as she tosses her phone on the
counter and takes off her coat and bag.
TRACY
(tiredly)
I need a drink.

She places the two over her a chair then walks to the
cabinet. While doing this, the words of JEAN, her only
daughter, echoed into her head.
JEAN (V.O.)
(groans)
Is that another bottle of wine? Oh
god. You already had twelve of
them. Do you honestly need more?

Tracy grabs a glass from her cabinet and a bottle of wine

from her wine cabinet. She pours the wine in the glass and
takes a sip of it. She glances over to the cabinet with her
bottles of wines and sighs.
TRACY
(mockingly)
You already have so many bottles of
wine. You dont need more.
(huffs)
And people wonder why i drink so
much when Im dealing with you.

3 INT. HOUSE- LIVING ROOM-AFTERNOON

Tracy leaves the kitchen and enters the living room. She
moves over to the window and looks outside. She takes one
sip of her drink and SNORTS. She pauses.

JEAN (V.O.)
(quietly)
Why would I want to go outside? I
dont interact with people!

Tracy sighs at this and shook her head, taking a longer sip
of her drink.
TRACY
(softly)
You need to interact with people.
Youre going to go crazy in these
four walls.
She walks over to her chair and plops herself in it. Her
gaze shifts towards the picture of her daughter in her cap
and gown. She reaches a hand over and grabs it, eyeing the
portrait of her smiling child as the whispering of her
daughter echoed in her head once more. At this point, Tracy
had a small smile on her face.
JEAN (V.O.)
(quietly)
Oh god. Do I have to take this
picture? I look awful!
TRACY
(chuckles)
No. No. Youre beautiful, little
girl.
(BEAT)
When you actually take a bath
instead of playing that Pokemon and
stop learning that cursing from
that man. What was his name? Brad
or something?
Tracy took another sip of her drink and she raises up and
sloppily places down the picture. Her speech starts to slur.

4 INT. HOUSE- KITCHEN- AFTERNOON

JEAN (V.O.) (contd)

comes from you. Funny, considering
you always say that you-

TRACY
(hisses)
I know youre not giving me lip,
child.
She pours another glass of wine and made her way to the next
room with a huff.
5 INT. HOUSE- COMPUTER ROOM- AFTERNOON
Tracy enters and examines the clean computer room. She looks
around, her eyes fall on a portrait of her daughter that
rests on the table.
JEAN (V.O.)
(happily)
Well, what do you think?

Tracy took a single sip of her wine and stares at the

picture.
TRACY
(scoffs)
Absolutely atrocious.

JEAN
(with a small drop of sadness)
Oh...

With a simple nod of her head, she turn away from the
picture, only to stop and wipe a tear from her eye. She
sniffled slightly as she stumble her way out of the room to
the final one, her daughters room
6 INT. HOUSE- JEANS ROOM- AFTERNOON

Tracy gave a shaky sigh upon entering the room. She stop at
the entrance of the room and eyed how clean the room was. It
looked as if no one been in this room in months.
TRACY
(muttering)
Oh, baby girl.
Taking yet another sip of wine, she placed her wine on the
dresser and explored the room. She took the time to take in
what was in it, remarking about the memories she had with
with each object.

She first looked to Nintendo 3DS on the table, shaking her

head as she looked to the device.
TRACY
Never even played that.

Tracy got up and moved over to the counter where a couple of

journals laid. She flipped through the book.
TRACY
Never wrote in these.

She moved over to the video game console that rest on the
stand where the TV laid. She rolled her/
TRACY
Oh ho ho ho. Never even turned this
on.
She eventually stopped on the blue dog plushie on the bed.
TRACY
(quietly)
Oh baby...girl. Oh baby girl.
Why..?
Her eyes waters before she grabbed the plushie and hugged it
to her chst. The female proceeded to break down crying.

TRACY
Why did they have to take you
away!?
Tracy continues to sob as the faint sound of someone getting
out of their car. Faint walking and the alarm going off can
be heard before Jean walks in. Jean stopped and stared at
her mother.
JEAN
Mom, what are you doing?

TRACY
Baby, oh my god. Baby, youre back!
JEAN
Of course Im back. I called
you 20 minutes ago!
(groans)
I knew I should have took away her
