Topic: Buying clothes


Week 2

Objectives:
SWBAT discuss the price of clothing in the target language
SWBAT ask how much an item is in the target language
SWBAT use adjectives to describe clothing articles in the target language
SWBAT count to 100 (by 10s) in the target language
SWBAT count to 20 in target language

Materials:
Projector
Clothing articles (Denim pants, cotton shirt, silk shirt, skirt)
Index cards
Tape

Review: (15min)
1. Teacher will greet the students in Arabic. Teacher will ask students How are you and
they should reply in Arabic Good/fine.
2. Review the previous slides with the students to review the names of articles of clothing.
3. Review Colors in target language
4. Review numbers up to 10. Count with students using fingers
Activity 1: Clothing (15min)
1. Teacher will hold up articles of clothing and ask students what are they? What color is it?
Teacher may also point to clothing on their body and ask students what it is, the color,
etc.
2. Teacher asks students, in a group, what each item is made out of (only ask about fabrics
they will learn), Teacher/TAs may need to assist in naming fabrics
3. Teacher will present power point on the names of fabrics while TA holds up each kind of
fabric and say in target language what it is. Students should repeat. (Repeat three times)
Activity 2: Counting (10 min)
1. Teacher will teach students how to count by 1, Teacher will show students how to count
to 20
2. Teacher will present on a power point on counting to 100 by 10s (10, 20, 30, & etc.)
3. Review power point three times
Activity 3: Shopping (15min)

Week 2

1. Teacher will teach students how to say How much is this in target language. Make
students repeat three times.
2. Teacher will attach index cards using tape with dollar prices on them. (i.e. $1, $15, $40,
etc.)
3. Teacher will tell students to get in pairs and ask each other How much is this? and the
students much answer using numbers in target language (TAs and teacher should be with
each group to assist)
Review: (5min)
1. Review Power points on new vocabulary and numbers. Have students repeat the words
after you.
