20171213-G. H. Schorel-Hlavka O.W.B. to Ms Lizzie Blandthorn MP
Lizzie,
one of the feedbacks I often receive from my readers is that politicians couldnt give a
darn, do their own thing, and lie their head off. Premier Daniel Andrews in my view is a clear
10 example, being it the East West Link not costing a cent to scrap when it did cost about $1.2
billion to taxpayers, the not legalizing euthanasia whereas doing the contrary, as Health Minister
the Safe Water Act 2003 where in 2017 parts of the Mallee is still without, the freeway funding
debacle, and for example the gross deceptive conduct regarding the North East Link issue, where
the public input appears to be not at all applied but have been some political gimmick.
15 As you pointed out in your 17 October 2017 speech in the Parliament re the Voluntary Assisted
Dying Bill 2017, which you provided me with, the Government had no mandate for euthanasia
legislation and acted contrary to its assurances prior to the election. It is [I may state for my wife
Olga (85)] remarkable that you despite being a member of the ALP nevertheless spoke up for the
truth. It is an exemplary conduct that regretfully many if not most Members of Parliament seem
20 to be missing. So to say they are morally bankrupt. The youth of today see this as an example to
disregard law and order because after all politicians do so themselves far too often.
I and for this so my wife also found it very touching what you stated about your grandfather. It
indeed underlines that we should encourage people to live beyond obstacles they face during
their lifetimes. Indeed, I since 1982 have conducted a special lifeline service MAY JUSTICE
25 ALWAYS PREVAIL (without government funding) dealing with people who contemplated
suicide, murder and even mass murder and my 15 July 2016 and 21 December 2016 prior
warnings (now before the coroner) about Bourke Street Mall being targeted for mass murder
underlines the problems that society is facing at difficult times. Hence, we need to address the
issues people are facing to assist them to get through their personal ordeals rather than to used
30 euthanasia (or suicide) as a way to end temporary or other problems in life. Some persons I
assisted decades ago still are in contact with me making known that my assistance at the time
changed their life for the better. Hence, we should never be ignorant to the plight of those facing
their personal ordeals and certainly not present euthanasia (some form of suicide) as a way to get
out of problems or not to be a burden (as might be seen by a person suffering) to society.
35 Your Hansard 17 October 2017 statement regarding the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017
was well received by both my wife and I and we can but only compliment for what you stated
and totally unreservedly support your input into the debate and your vote.
This document is not intended and neither must be perceived to refer to all details/issues.

40 Awaiting your response, G. H. Schorel-Hlavka O. W. B. (Friends call me Gerrit)
