1.

Half a league, half a league,

Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

1C:

Half a lick, half a lick,

Half a lick forward,
Both in the living room
Lay Luce an' Howard
"Forward, to the kitchen!"
"Plenty to eat," he said
Into the den of plenty,
Strode those cats onward

2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

2C: "Forward, the fur brigade!"

Was there a cat dismay'd?
Not tho' that Lucy knew
Kit bics still fresh
Both sighed with relief: "Phew"
Theirs not to cry and moan
Theirs to do eat the doggy's bone
Theirs but to scoff and chew
Into the den of plenty,
Strode those cats ownward

3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.

3.
Owners to the right of them
Owners to the left of them,
Owners in front of them
Moaned and groaned
Said it was too tedious
Both seemed to be in a rush
Howard clamped his jaws down
Lucy snivelled, and also frown'd
Strode those cats onward

4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke

Shatter'd and sunder'd.

Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.

4C:

Flash'd all their fish'd fangs bare,

Flash'd both tails, held high in air,
Persuading the owners there,
Meowing and urgin', while
Both of them wonder'd
Will we get fed?
Howard 'specially pondered
Mongrel and possibily part-Persian
Reel'd from the hunger pangs
Shatter'd and famished
Then they mooched back
Both of those cats, hungered
