Log Description

1. 25/09/17 Year In this lesson I integrated formative assessment at the beginning of the
9 Social lesson as a 'do now'. The purpose of the 'do now' was to check
Studies, Women's students' understanding of key concepts that had been learned in the
Rights in previous lesson. The 'do now' was effective in eliciting students'
Iran (Period 3) understanding of key concepts relating to women's rights in Iran. It
also enabled me to use that evidence to improve my instruction. For
example, I was able to isolate concepts that needed further
instruction. (You will find more information about this enactment of
formative assessment in the documentation below)
2. 25/10/17 Year In this lesson I used formative assessment to foster self-regulated

on Past and commitment and persistence I introduced a progress arrow and google
Present World form, for students to create individual goals and to self-assess their

1) assist learners in reaching their goals. (You will find more information
about this enactment of formative assessment in the documentation

on Human Right's

4. 08/11/17 Year In this lesson I created a resource, which involved students creating a
10 Social social media campaign to raise awareness about one of the threats to
Studies, Creating democracy that were learnt previously. The game was both intended
a Social Media to be a revision tool for students' upcoming exams and to develop
Campaign (Period students' understanding of the concepts. I was able to gauge students'
5) learning of the concepts both throughout the lesson and at the end of
the lesson during a class-wide questioning session. This gave me the
opportunity to correct any misconceptions in students' understanding
and to be assured that students had a thorough understanding of these
concepts in preparation for their exam.

5. 15/11/17 Year In this lesson I implemented a mathex style revision activity to assess
10 Social students' knowledge of graph trends. Students were placed in groups
Studies, Skills and each group had to complete nine questions related to graph
Revision for trends. To proceed to the next questions students had to get their
Exams (Period 4) answer correct. If their answer was not correct I was able to provide
direct feedback. This formative activity was effective as it enabled me
to assess students' understanding, provide feedback and ensure
students engaged and enacted that feedback. (You will find more
information about this enactment of formative assessment in the
