Please take note that you should not be reinstalling SEP unless it is necessary.

 
 
Situations where you may need to reinstall SEP: 
 
1. After OS refresh, if the SEP is still showing office after copying sylink.html into C:\Program    
Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection 
 
2. Two versions of SEP are installed on SOE machine 
 
3. After repairing SEP it still does not work 
 

For reinstallation of SEP, please follow the steps from page 2 onwards.

*Kindly contact BT Ops @ 6593 6057 / 6593 6058 to move the hostname to the Pilot Debug group. Be sure to read the guide
thoroughly before attempting. Administrative rights are needed*

1. Launch Command Prompt in ‘Run as Administrator’

2. Enter CD “C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection”

3. Enter smc -stop


The SEP Icon at the Notification Taskbar would disappear at this point

4. Launch ‘services.msc’

5. Stop all Symantec related services

*If any of the services are unabled to be stopped, move on to the next step*

6. Launch Control Panel  Programs and Features


a. Uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection
b. Uninstall LiveUpdate

7. Delete Symantec folder in ‘C:\Program Files’

8. Delete Symantec folder in ‘C:\Users\All Users’

9. Delete Symantec Endpoint Protection folder in ‘C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\Start


Menu\Programs’

10. Delete Symantec folder in ‘C:\ProgramData’


*Steps 7-10: Remove the contents before deleting the folder. Some contents might require elevated permissions before
removing. If you are unable to remove it at first, reboot and try again*

11. Reboot the Workstation


12. Ensure the Workstation is connected to the SOE LAN

13. Use Run Advertised Programs in Control Panel and Install Symantec Endpoint Protection

14. Once successfully installed, reboot the machine.
