Our topic for this project was the top fifty NFL players with the most tackles. The data was
collected from the players statistics page on ESPN.

The histogram shows that the distribution of the number of tackles was skew right, meaning
most players had lower numbers of tackles. The highest bars were in the classes between
17-25, showing that this was the most frequent number of tackles for the 50 players that the
data was collected from.

For the stem and leaf display, it is shown that most of the number of tackles were between 10
and 20, because the majority of the numbers in the 1’s place occurred in the 10’s and 20’s
group. This information goes along with the data from the histogram, meaning not many players
had numbers of tackles in the 30’s, only three.

The relative frequency histogram shows the same data as the regular frequency histogram, but
the relative frequency one shows the frequency in percentages. But the distributions of the two
are equal.

The pie chart separates the amount of defensive tackles into three groups, 10-19, 20-29, and
30-39. Each section of the pie chart shows the percentage of tackles for the particular group.
Our chart shows that 48% of of the defensive tackles ranged from 20-29, 46% ranged from
10-19, and 6% ranged from 30-39.
The frequency table consists of four different columns. There are 7 limits between the numbers
10 and 37. The boundaries column is an important part of the frequency table. It is used to
make the histograms. The frequency table shows the frequency for each of the boundaries. We
used the frequency to calculate a percentage for each boundary, this is called the relative
frequency. We also have a column for the cumulative frequency. Frequency tables are an easy
way to organize information that is needed to create different kinds of charts. Data such as the
amount of defensive tackles for each boundary can easily be collected through a frequency
table.

Frequency
Table:
Relative Cumulative
Limits Boundaries Frequency Frequency Frequency
10-13 9.5-13.5 2 4% 2
14-17 13.5-17.5 10 2% 12
18-21 17.5-21.5 15 3% 27
22-25 21.5-25.5 14 28% 41
26-29 25.5-29.5 5 10% 46
30-33 29.5-33.5 3 6% 49
34-37 33.5-37.5 1 2% 50
The pareto chart shows the frequency of the number of tackles of each player but they are in
order from highest to lowest, making it easier to see the number of tackles most common
among the players.

The ogive shows the amount of defensive tackles for every ten players. We collected data from
50 of the top defensive tackles. The ogive shows the cumulative frequency for the data we
collected. We did not collected data over a certain time period, so we used the cumulative
frequency to create a line graph.
Each graph shows the same information for the number of tackles the players had. Although
each graph is in a different form, they all show that the most tackles for defensive players is
between 22 and 25.
