We are pleased to have you and your class participate in our Baseball By The Books program, presented
by Smack Pie Pizza, this year!
Let's get started- Here's a quick rundown of the program: It runs from January 2018 to March 2018. In
that time, students must complete the reading requirements (five books for elementary school and
seven for middle school) in order to receive their two free tickets to a 2018 Stockton Ports home game
during the month that your school chose on the enrollment form (either April or May- your program
coordinator will have this information). Teachers and administrators involved in the program will also
receive two free tickets to a game.
Once the students complete the reading requirements, please return your class's reading checklist
portion of the bookmark AND the completed participant list to your school's program coordinator.
Please make sure you fill out the participant list with the names of your students who've completed the
program- this will make voucher distribution a lot easier for you and your coordinator when the time
comes! If you didn't receive a participant list form, please email me and I'll send one to you.
After submitting your class's materials, your coordinator will then mail or deliver all of the school's
completed bookmarks and participant lists to me. I've given your coordinator a deadline of March 9,
2018 to get all bookmarks to me, so please allow ample time to collect your students' bookmarks. On
the bookmarks, it is noted for students to return them to you by Friday, March 2, 2018. Once I receive
your bookmarks and lists, I will either mail your coordinator the free ticket vouchers or drop them off at
your school to be distributed.
And don't forget, the school with the highest Reading Day voucher redemption rate will receive $1,000
toward their PTA, so encourage your students to complete and turn in their bookmarks, attend the
game, and most importantly, READ!
Your coordinator should be able to answer questions you may have, but please feel free to reach out to
me if you would like!
Happy reading!
Dear Guardians,
We are excited to have your child participate in this year's Stockton Ports' Baseball By The
Books reading program, presented by Smack Pie Pizza! The program is designed to spread the
value of reading by encouraging students to read both inside and outside the classroom while
earning TWO FREE TICKETS to a 2018 Stockton Ports home baseball game!
Once your child completes the reading requirements (five books for elementary school and
seven for middle school from now until the beginning of March), please return ONLY the
reading checklist portion of the bookmark to your child's teacher by Friday, March 2"d (unless
otherwise noted by your child's teacher). You can keep the top half of the bookmark with the
artwork and the Ports' schedule.
When your child completes the program, they will receive two free tickets (in the form of a
voucher) to a 2018 Stockton Ports home baseball game! Also, we will be offering a group outing
so that schools can sit together at their scheduled games, and additional tickets may be
purchased for a discounted price. For more information about your school's date for the Ports
game, please contact your school's program coordinator.
And don't forget, the school with the highest ticket redemption rate will receive $1,000 toward
their PTA, so encourage your child to complete and turn in their bookmark, attend the game,
and most importantly, READ! We will measure participation by the percentage of students who
attend Reading Days at Banner Island Ballpark, so encourage your child to participate in every
step of the program!
Lastly, on the back of the bookmark your child receives, there's information on our Kids' Club.
For only $5, Kids' Club members receive a free ticket to every Sunday home game! If you are
interested, please sign-up!
Happy Reading!

Feliz Lectura!
