Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD), has established five Indian
Institutes of Science Education and
Research (IISER).

These institutes are located in Bhopal, Mohali,

Pune, Kolkata and Thiruvanantapuram.
Physics :
Physics research at IISER currently covers
the following areas:

 Astrophysics

 NMR and quantum information theory

 Non-linear dynamics and chaos

 Particle physics and quantum field theory

 Physics of materials, semiconductor physics
and nano systems
 Statistical physics, condensed matter
physics and biophysics
 We intend to expand these existing research
groups and also initiate research
programmes in other areas of experimental
and theoretical physics (atomic & molecular
physics, optics, mathematical physics, fluid
dynamics, string theory and cosmology).

Eligibility: UGC-CSIR: NET/ GATE/ JEST

Exam qualification and Min. 55% marks
for masters degree. Followed by interview.
Integrated Ph. D. Programme
(M.S. + Ph. D)
It is 4 years programme further extendible to
1 year. (1.5 years for M.S. + 2.5 years for
Ph. D. Thesis)

Eligibility: B.Sc. (any area)/ B.Tech with at

Value of the programme:
Selected candidate will be offered a
scholarship of Rs. 10000 per month for the first
two years, after which it would be increased
to comply with the established
UGC/ CSIR norms (Rs. 16000/ 18000+30%

Nature of The Exam and Selection Procedure:
100 marks multiple choice type of questions.
You can appear for the test of any discipline for
your integrated programme irrespective of the
specialization.
For multiple disciplines you have to appear for
multiple tests.
For the selection candidate has to appear for an
interview after the exam.
