Big Family

If you look anything like me or have a last name that i know personally, then we might be

related. Many types of people bloom from my family. We have all the colors of the rainbow. My

intermediate family is just a splinter, that branches from my family tree. Most of my family are

from either Missouri or Saint Louis, Mississippi. My Great-Great-Grandpa, Son Clayton, came

to California at a young age and married a beautiful Native American lady. She was Comanche

and was well known in her tribe. They had many children and among them was my Great

Grandpa. My great grandfather got married at a young age. He married my Great Grandmother,

Betty Jean Clayton. My Great Grandfather was well known in his community and so was my

Great Grandmother. Their marriage didn’t last long due to my Great Grandfather having interests

in other women. They had 5 children before their divorce, the oldest was my Grandpa. My

grandfather also married at a young age, when he was 15. He was known for being able to lift an

engine from a truck. He soon married one of the three Purit sisters. The one he married was the

youngest, Patricia Purit. They had 2 mixed girls, the youngest of the sisters was my mother. She

was the one who got straight A’s and helped my aunt with homework. Both sisters were always

hard workers and if they weren’t, they got the extension cord. My Grandpa came from a strict

household, while my Grandma came from a very lenient environment. Once my mother had

reached High School, she met my father Jerome. My father was a very persistent man, he always

got what he laid his eyes on. For about 4 years, my mother constantly rejected my father. It was

when my mother got out of high school, is that when she started liking my father. She became

pregnant with me at the age of 18, while my father was 19. A Couple of months after I was born,

they got married. I am the oldest of 4 destructive children. I was the one they experimented on,

they thought it would be quite boring with just one kid. 2 more additions were added over the

years .They would become a curse and a blessing in the family. We did not grow up in a stable

environment. We were poor and my father would come, then go. I was the one who supported

my mother through those times. I also lived with my grandparents during those times and would

never have my own room until the age of 10. I would finally get my own cave to seclude myself

in, when my mother moved into an apartment. She would work day and night to provide for my

siblings and I. With my father still coming and going, I was drained emotionally. My mother

became downhearted during that time as well. During that time she still pressed on and made a

living during that time. My mother radiated with motivation and she became my source of

encouragement. As years passed, I had another brother. This brother had a different dad. Once

again the cycle began again, the father left again. These event shaped me to the person I would

become today. Still my mother is my main source of encouragement.

My mother was one of the main sources of encouragement through the years. Others

strengthened me emotionally and spiritually. My master, my sensei, and my leader is my mother.

She is and always will be my emotional crutch.
