01 ABOUT US.
The legendary Leo Club of Kolonnawa is one of the well
decorated and well experienced leo clubs hailed from Leo District 306C1.
The club ultimately became a leading and a popular Leo club among the
local community of sri lanka by going along with 19 years of excellence.
The legendary Leo club of Kolonnawa has pioneered and successfully
executed more than 2000 Charity projects during the past 19 years. The
slogan "A family like no other ", have added a significant uniqueness to
the club.

Throughout these Long years the Leo club of Kolonnawa has

produced 5 district presidents to the Leo District 306C1.

The club was recognised by the International and by the Multiple

District of 306 many times and has been awarded for its extraordinary
ability to work for a betterment of todays world. The proud club always
keen on to do massive service project which is more productive in every
sense.

02 HIGHLIGHTS
IGHLIGHTS
The month of October consists of 2 major projects and one continuous
project in the legendary Leo club of Kolonnawa.

They are Apen Gamata, Dhaana and HIFE. The project Dhaana is s
continuous project done every month, Project Apen Gamata was
continued 3 times for the past three years and project HIFE was done for
the first time in the annals of history of Leo Kolonnawa.

As always our dear Leos of Kolonnawa Leo club participated and chaired
these projects which turned out to become successful towards the
common good of the society and you can find the detailed articles of each
project below.

01APEN GAMATA 2
The Leos of Kolonnawa make the community a better place while sharing
the love and friendship that make our club, one that people want to be a
part of.

On a fine day like October 8th, 2017 the Project Apen gamata was initiated.
Apen Gamata was a project of donating necessities for underprivileged
families.

Under the Leadership of Leo Dasith Jayathilake, 10 families were provided

with packs of dry food, soaps, toothbrushes, toothpastes and medicines.
These essential food requirements were donated to the families who
participated to the Kolonnawa Mathru Niwasaya clinic.

Even though the cost of each pack was LKR 1,550/= the smile we made on
each family, was worth a million more.

02 DHAANA
Good nutrition creates health in all areas of man’s existence.
We, the legendary Leo club of Kolonnawa has been continuously distributing
grams for the children who have been affected by malnutrition for the past few
years. The youthful Leos circulated parcels of Kadala, 2 packs of Biscuits and a bar
of soap to every mother and kid who took part in the Kolonnawa Mathru
Niwasaya clinic and further, the Lions club of Kolonnawa provided them with
appropriate milk powder packets, Samaposha packets and all the vital
medication.

With the leadership of our dear club President, Leo Nisal Dulmith, the legendary
club successfully initiated this project on 8th of October 2017 for more than 20
beneficiaries in Kolonnawa. Little things can make a huge impact in people’s lives.
We can assure that this small project made a great impact on the lives of the
children and the mothers who participated for this event.

03 HIFE
HIFE – Hunger is for everyone was a project initiated by the Leos of Kolon-
nawa to relieve the hunger of the street dogs for one day. With the help of Mr.,
Nihal, a man who has been continuously feeding the stray daily we helped/
sponsored to prepare a meal to lessen their hardship of street life.

With the leadership of the Immidiate Past president of the club,

Leo Kulinda Jayasen, The project was held on 25 th of October 2017, starting
from the Diyatha uyana, Sri Jayawardanapura kotte and ended at
Battaramulla, Feeding approximately 120 street dogs and cats. Showing an
underprivileged dogs and cats with the love and care they craves is a great
thing in this world, The projects whole purpose was to raise awareness and to
inspire other people not to forget these beautiful creature and to remind them
that they are still been cared and loved.

With the initiation of this project the Leos of Kolonnawa participated in the Leo
day video contest organized by the Lions club international to celebrate the 60
th anniversary of the Leo club program.

Our heartfelt thanks Goes to the Immediate past President Leo Kulinda
Jayasen, President Leo Nisal Dulmith,Vice president Leo Gyanthi Kaluarachchi,
Secretary Leo Rusith De Costa, Prospect Piyath Malaka, Leo Dilshan, Leo
Dasith, Prospect Sanuri & Prospect pulasthi for helping to make this project a
success.

Leo club of Kolonnawa

What is Leoism? what does Leo Means to me? In simple terms,

Leo Stands for Leadership, Experience & Opportunities.

I have been a Leo since Year 2015 and the opportunities and the
leadership experiences gained through it has been great.

Leadership is a daily practice fairly fluid and by Leoism I have got a

chance to improve my inner leadership skills in becoming a good
leader. The Leo program has provided me with the platform for
adequate opportunities to develop myself.

I was appointed as the 18 th Club President of the Legendary Leo Club

of Kolonnawa in the leostic year 2016/2017. Life is a huge balancing act
and just as every other Leo I got the chance of how to balance and do it
right. As a young Leo I have got a chance in Meeting new faces, having
a chance to help those in need and by serving this great nation. By
meeting new characters I got a chance of knowing how to deal with
different situations and different people in life.

Before I end my story, in simple terms ill say that Leoism is not just
helping the poor nor helping the nation. Just as how much I give my
best to Leoism, I got a chance to discover and to expand myself to the

Lions club international was established in 1917 in
Chicago, Illinois,USA. In 1971 ,Lions Club International
headquarters was relocated to Oak brook, Illinois 20
miles west of downtown, Chicago.

04 HEART AND SOUL monthly meeting

OCTOBER
With the presence of the guest speaker of the day, Mr. Kusal Perera, the
senior cluster manager of Laugfs PLC, the monthly meeting for the month of
October was held on 28th of October from 10.00 am onwards.

Special thanks goes to our brother Leo Uvindu Samarasinghe for hosting the
meeting at his residence.

Our heartfelt thanks goes to our dear Lion lesli leelananda for participating
for the monthly meeting and for the guiding light provided for the
youngsters of Leo Kolonnawa.

Mr. Kusal shared his life story on how he started small and ended with a
great personality and successful. The youngsters of Leo club of Kolonnawa
was inspired by his shared life journey. In addition, all the plans for the
upcoming projects were discussed by the Leo club and the meeting was
terminated for lunch and fellowship.
