JIHAD IN ISLAM BY MUHAMMAD QASIM

In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. ( Qur’an 1 verse 1). Many muslims and
non-muslims have misunderstood the meaning and concept of jihad. Some illiterate among the muslim ,
think that ; Jihad only means an holy war fought by muslims, whether be for any reason, and this is the
understanding of most non- muslims.

One of the reasons why the non-muslims believes Jihad to be holy war, fought by muslims, is due to
some of the attitudes of the muslims. Any small thing done to a muslim , the illiterate among them will
always want to fight back.

But, this is what Jihad means in Islam according to my little knowledge in Islam.

JIHAD IN THE QURAN:

1. Surah 2:190 : “Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not commit
aggression for God loves not the aggressor.” Comment; No killing of infants , suckling
babies , old men and women , animals and burning cities. i.e No exceeding of limit.
Check: (Numbers 31:17-18, 1 Samuel 15:18)
2. Surah 2:194 : “ If anyone attack you, attack him just as he has attacked you, but be
conscious of Allah and know that Allah is with those who are conscious of him.”.
comment : There is unjustifiable war in Islam, neither is there any aggression or
exceeding the boundary of revenge. Check : (Deuteronomy : 20: 10-20).
3. Surah 4:90: “------therefore, If tthey withdraw from you and fight you not, and instead
send you guarantees of peace, know that Allah has not giving you licence to fight them.
Comment : Fighting in Islam is not just for pleasure sake or oppression but for the
maintenance of peace, stability, justice and freedom of worship and protection of lives
and properties. Check : (Deuteronomy: 20: 10-11).
4. Surah 2:256 :” There is no coercion in religion ; truth stand distinct from error.
Comment ; Islam is not a religion that can be forced or imposed on the unbelievers. It is
a sin in Islam to force the unbelievers to accept Islam with the sword or any other
weapon.
5. Surah 22: 39-40 :” Permission to fight is given to those who are fought (by their
enemies) because they have been oppressed-----“
6. Surah 60-8 : “ God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with
those who have not fought you about your religion, and have not driven you out of your
homes, God love just dealers. Comment ; In a nutshell, Jihad does not only means
fighting for a just cause for the maintenance of peace, stability, freedom and protection
of life and properties, but jihad also means struggling in the act of righteousness or
helping others who are in need of assistance, or removing harmful objects on the road,
or establishing charitable foundations, schools , hospitals and other projects to help the
people and only for the sake of Allah. Jihad can also mean preaching the message of
Allah (Islam) to the people. In fact, jihad is a self defence against any act of aggression,
injustice and oppression.

JESUS JIHAD IN THE BIBLE;

1. Luke 19:27; Comment; Did Jesus come to slaughter people because of politics? Was he
no longer a prince of peace again?
2. Luke 12:51-53 Comment; is this not a form of disunity among Families and friends?
3. Matthew 10:34
4. Luke 22:36 Comment; This is not an instruction for making peace but riot.

One may say my number one point under the topic : “Jihad in the Qur’an” is an
unholy war. Yes, muslims are allowed to fight when they are oppressed and when
someone forbid them the worship of Allah.

Christians should also know that even the Bible support holy war! * Deuteronomy
20:1-14. Comment; Will the Christian say that holy war is not mention in their
bible after reading the above verses in the bible?

Before any Christian condemns the Islamic version of jihad,he has to condemn the
biblical version of war.For more details and evidences of war in the bible.Readers
should read the following verses; Joshua 8:1-8, Joshua 11:6-14, numbers 33:50-54,
Genesis 14:14-20, Deut 7:1-5, Gen 34:25-29, 1samuel 17:48-51, Isaiah 13:17-18. In
fact there are more than a thousand verses in the bible that speaks about holy and
unholy wars. When one reads them, he will find out how people where massacred,
cities where utterly destroyed, where made slaves in the name of holy war as
mentioned in the bible. What would the Christian clergies say about these
massacres in their versions of the bible? The Christian nations of
America,France,Germany,Britian,Isreal and others are using this biblical system of
war to massacre the muslims and destroy most muslims countries. They impose
their kufr(western democratic) system of governance against this muslim nations in
order to create hatred and division among the muslims, and also to control their
military, potical and economic power there by, making them slaves in their country
of origin.
