What Do I Do?
1. Launch MapInfo Professional. On the Microsoft Start menu, click All
Program > MapInfo > MapInfo Professional.
2. In the Quick Start dialog, select Open a Table. Click Open.

The Open Table dialog opens.

3. In the Files of Type list, click Microsoft Excel, and then in the Look in lists, navigate to and click
your Excel File. Click Open.

The Excel Information dialog opens.


4. In the Named Range list, click Other. Then, check the Use Row above Selected Range for
Column Titles check box.

This will make the first row in your spreadsheet the field names in MapInfo. Depending on how you
geocode the information, column titles should be Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Lat, and Long. The
other field names are not important for geocoding.
Click OK. The Other Range dialog opens.
5. Edit the range to Start at A2 instead of A1. Click OK.

6. On the File menu, click Save Copy As. Make sure the new name is unique.
You now have a MapInfo Table with your Excel Spreadsheet data.
