Wall: 3 layers (pericardium, myocardium, endocardium)

Chambers

Upper two chambers: atria receive blood returning to heart from body

Lower two chambers: ventricles  pump blood from heart to body


4 Valves: allow blood to flow in one direction between chambers of heart
