METHODOLOGY

Coriander (Coriandrum Sativum) Seed Decoction as Mosquito Larvae Controller

Gathering of Materials

Five hundred grams (500 m) of Coriander Seeds (Coriandrum Sativum) were brought

at Davao city public market. The Coriander seeds was temporarily stored in an airtight container

to insure no contaminants will gather with the coriander seeds. And ten plastic cups were bought

in the digos city public market.

Preparation of the decoction

Coriander seeds were boiled as batches in reference to the amount of coriander

seeds to be boiled for one minute in a soup pan. after each batch the decoction was set aside to be

cooled at room temperature for the experiment. After the cooling process the decoction was

placed in a plastic cup to be put in there designated locations.

Preparation of treatments

Four types of the decoction was prepared namely: 100 grams, 75 grams,

50 grams, 25 grams per 100 ml of water.

Treatment 1: 100 grams of coriander seeds in 100 ml of water

Treatment 2: 75 grams of coriander seeds in 100 ml of water

Treatment 3: 50 grams of coriander seeds in 100 ml of water

Treatment 4: 25 grams of coriander seeds in 100 ml of water

Treatment 5: Commercial mosquito larvae controller in 100 ml of water

Experimental procedure

10 medium sized cups were prepared for the experiment. Two sets of cups were put in two

different location for the experiment. The cups were checked were daily in a period of one week.
