The super blood blue moon occur when the sun, earth and moon are perfectly aligned the
earths full shadow blocks most of the suns light from reaching the moons surface. The
second full moon of January passed through Earth's shadow in a Super Blue Blood Moon
eclipse wednesday (Jan. 31), a rare lunar sight visible to millions of observers around the
world. This lunar eclipse was visible in all 50 U.S. states as well as Australia and eastern
Asia. The celestial phenomenon, which occurs on January 31, will combine three separate
lunar spectacles – a blue moon, a supermoon and a total lunar eclipse. For spectators in
North America, this will be the first time all three events occur simultaneously since 1866
more than 150 years ago - though other parts of the world did experience a blue moon
total lunar eclipse in December 1982. The next blue moon total lunar eclipse won’t be
until December 31, 2028.
