The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), promotes and supports
research on infectious diseases of poverty that leads to health improvement. It also helps to strengthen
individual and institutional research capacity in developing countries. Translating research results into
policy and practice, and engaging individuals and communities in using research evidence to reduce
the disease burden in their respective countries, are key components.
The Small Grants Programme is a joint initiative of TDR and the Pan American Health Organization
(PAHO) in place since 1995. The goal of the research proposal funded under this call is to develop

Tamizaje de DM en pacientes con TB
• Reclutamiento empezó el 6 de Enero 2014
• 4 sedes:
– Hospital Huaycan
– Centro de Salud Fortaleza
– Centro Materno Infantil San Jose
– Centro de Salud San Cosme (Febrero 2015)
• La prevalencia de DM se incrementa en
aquellos con 35-54 años (15.6%; 95%CI:
12.5%-19.2%) y mayores de 55 años (32.6%;
95%CI: 26.0%-39.9%).
TB-MDR y DM : Resultados
• 61.3% de los pacientes TB-MDR con DM eran varones y
36.8% tienen un IMC >25kg/m2.
