Equality & Diversity (E&D) Strategic Group

Terms of Reference
The association has established an E&D Strategic Group which will be responsible
for all matters as outlined in the ‘Purpose’ section below.

Purpose
The purpose of the E&D Strategic Group is to oversee the implementation of the
Corporate Objective “To build our Community Commitment”

Membership
The E&D Strategic Group is made up of members of staff from each area within
the organisation and residents.

 The CEO is the Chair of the group.


 The Assistant Director of Operations is the Vice Chair of the group.
 A Board member will also sit on the group and be the portfolio hold for
Equality and Diversity.

There is no set period of time that members sit on the group.

Other individuals / roles may be invited to attend all or part of any meeting, as
and when appropriate.

Meetings
The group will meet (minimum) bi-annually.

Authority
Members of the group are authorised to undertake any duties that is relevant to
its terms of reference.

Duties / Responsibilities
 To deliver our single equality scheme addressing all aspects of diversity in
Axiom
 To review policies and procedures with regard to E&D
 To review Equality Impact Assessments
 To ensure that Axiom is an accredited leader in Investors in Diversity
 To promote awareness of E&D
 To provide training, support and guidance to board members, staff and
residents on E&D
 To assist and advise on effective communication with our staff, residents,
service users and stakeholders
 To undertake regular training and receive updates
 To assist and advise on the development of all of our staff through
effective recruitment, training, support and engagement
 To receive reports from its sub-groups-Including the Disability User Group
and any relevant Task and Finish Group.

Reporting Procedures
The Group will provide regular reports to the Executive and Board of
Management on E&D. Minutes of meetings will be posted on ALICE.
