VALVE MARKING

1. Marking for API 6D Ball Valve (Nameplate)

 Material nameplate shall be SS316 and attached to valve’s body. For valve below 2”, nameplate
may be attached to the valve with stainless steel wire.
 The nameplate minimum letter size shall be 0.125 in. (3 mm) on valves sizes NPS 2 (ON 50) and
larger. For all valves NPS 1.5 in (ON 38) and smaller, the nameplate letter size shall be per the
manufacturer'sstandard.
 Several information shall be stated in nameplate:
 Manufacturer name
 Pressure class
 Max Pressure and Max temperature
 Body/Bonnet Material
 Trim Material
 Nominal Valve size
 Unique Serial Number
 Date of manufacturer (month and year)
 Product specification (API 6D or 6A)

2. Marking for API 6A Ball Valve (Name Plate)

 Name plate shall be made of corrosion resistant material. For valve below 2”, nameplate may
be attached to the valve with stainless steel wire.
 The nameplate minimum letter size shall be 0.125 in. (3 mm) on valves sizes NPS 2 (ON 50) and
larger. For all valves NPS 1.5 in (ON 38) and smaller, the nameplate letter size shall be per the
manufacturer'sstandard.
 Several information shall be stated in nameplate:
 ISO 10423
 Temperature max and min
 Material Class
 Product specification level (PSL3)
 Performance level (PR1/PR2)
 Nominal Valve size
 End and outlet connector size
 Rated working pressure
 Date manufacture
 Manufacture name
 Valve lever shall be marked with the direction of movement for opening
 Flow direction shall be marked on body (unidirectional valves only)
