wajir came into existence in delhi sultan period first it was military leaders but
later headed by revenue officials.

next important department was diwan-i-arz(military dept) and head of department is


ariz-i-mamalik. ariz was not the commander in chief of the army his work was to
recuit,equip,pay the army. the chief of the army was the sultan .balban was the
first who established a seperarte ariz department.alauddin khalji mantained close
attention to the department he introduced dagh system (horses) and descriptive role
of each soldier.he payed each one in cash.turks maintained large amount of elephant
in the army and a slappers and miners

diwan a risalat-it dealt with the religious matter pious foundation and stipends to
deserving scholars.presided by chief sadr.who is generally leading qazi also called
chief qazi.qazi were appointed in placed where there is muslim leaders and were
governed by the muslim law(sharia). the hindu ware by panchayats and leaders of
various castesin city.but criminal laws were regulation framed for purpose by
rulers

diwan a insha:- dealth with state correspondence , formal or confidential between


rulers and sovereigns of other state. there were intelligent agents called barid
all over the empire.the chief barid was a noble man whom has a fulliest confidence
of the rulers.

local administration:-
whole area under the delhi sultan was divided into iqtas these iqtas was parcelled
out by leading turk nobles the holders of these offices are knowns as muqtis

economic life:-
ibn battuta lived in court of mohhamad bin toughlaq for 8 years and account gives
the soil which was very fertile.rice 3 times a year.

most of them are pleasants which lived with subsistant farming.

silver coins (tanka) copper coins (dirham) there was a finite growth of trade.ibn
battuta calls delhi as the largest city in the east.daulatabad equalled delhi in
size an index of growth of trade between north and south.bengal and gujrat ware
famous for the textiles and for gold and silver work.NEW craft introduced by the
turks were the manufacture of the paper.india textiles have a trade in cotton.
coastal trade was in hands of marwaris and gujratis and muslim bohra.they send
large amt of money to build up temples cambay was a large city at that time. road
to daimabad was built by the mohhamad bin toughlaq a relay of runners was
maintained for the transfer of letters and food for the king

sultan and nobles enjoyed a high standard of living which is comparable to highest
standard of living karkhanas reffered to the caterer of all the needs of sultan and
haram in which all womens of the family reside
alauddin suppressed the nobles due to expansion of empire the salaries of the
nobles greatly increases under the mommadadh bin toughlaq
