Mode
At the conclusion of this exercise you will be able to:

Use the new design mode features of the BEx Analyzer to create advanced workbooks which use
a combination of BEx and native Excel features.

1. Open the Bex Analyzer and create a new (blank) workbook and connect to the SAP
NetWeaver BI system.

2. Add a new Bex table item to cell A22.

3. For the new table item, assign a new DataProvider which refers to the query
ZD_SD_C03_Q001

4. Select ‘Use Formulas’ and deselect ‘Apply Formatting’ in the Analysis Grid Properties
screen. Close the properties dialog, and leave the design mode to view results.

5. Create an excel formula to display the sum of the ‘Orders 2004’ in cell B30. The formula
is =SUM(B23:B28)
6. Add the Euro currency symbol to the ‘Orders 2004’ values by using excel cell formatting.
Use the number category ‘Currency’ then choose the entry which puts the Euro symbol
behind the order value. It doesn’t matter in which way you choose to express the
negative values.

7. Format the entire table with Font Arial and Style Bold.
8. Insert a second table in cell D11 which uses a new DataProvider assigned to query
ZD_SD_C03_Q002
9. Select ‘Use Formulas’ and deselect ‘Apply Formatting’ in the Analysis Grid Properties
screen. Close the properties dialog.
10. Exit the Design Mode to display the query results.

11. Create a new calculated key figure ‘Deviation’ based on Excel formulas. Enter the title
Deviation into cell G11. The formula for G12 is =(F12-E12)/E12. The formula for G13 is
=(F13-E13)/E13, and so on.

12. Create an exception for the deviation column by using excel formatting. Use Custom
category for cell formatting and type in [Green][>1] 0%;[Red][<0.2] 0%;0%

13. Use excel formatting to create a blue color frame around the entire table result, including
the headers.

14. Add the Euro currency symbol to the ‘Orders 2003’ and ‘Orders 2004’ values by using
excel cell formatting. Use the number category ‘Currency’ then choose the entry which
puts the Euro symbol behind the order value. It doesn’t matter in which way you choose
to express the negative values.

15. Use Excel to add a split 3D Pie Chart which displays only the 2005 orders.

16. You want to ensure that the workbook is always refreshed on opening, and you also want
to make sure that no one can change the workbook design settings that you have
previously made.
