hours of sleepy grads.
The annual Senior Slam celebration holds a
variety of events for the new graduates to
celebrate together one final time. Events include
games of Texas hold em, a bungee run, and even
a hypnotism act. Senior Allie Seymour said
watching her friends fall into a hypnotic state was
the highlight of the evening especially when
senior Jacob Burlison couldn't remember her
when she was given the pet name Roxy.
“While I was taking pictures, I felt someone pet
me. Jake was hypnotized to think I was his pet
Roxy. Later on in the night I went up to him and
he continued to call me Roxy while denying
knowing anyone named Allie Seymour,” she said.
Burlison said he remembers Seymour texting
him to try and see if he knew her name, but he
thought Allie Seymour was his sisters friend.
“Allie told me to check my phone after she had
texted me and I legit thought it was my sisters
contacts syncing with mine because I had no clue
who Allie Seymour was,” Burlison said.
Senior Mckenna Mitchell was also hypnotized
but said she remembers it like she was sleep
walking.
“I knew what I was doing but it was almost like
I was sleepwalking. I felt so relaxed that I just felt
OK with doing everything the guy asked me to,”
Mitchell said.
Mitchell said it was a very interesting
experience even though not everyone who was
hypnotized remembers anything at all. Mitchell
said it was almost pleasant.
“I felt so relaxed I could have fallen asleep at
any moment,” she said.
One of the more entertaining parts of the
hypnosis did not stop there. Seniors Colin Hilpert
and Matthew Cline were convinced that they were
giving birth on stage in front of the whole class.
Cline said he believed what was happening to
him while he was on stage thinking he was having
a baby
“I believed everything he [the hypnotist] was
saying so I thought I was about to be the mother
of Colin’s baby,” Cline said.
