DISCOVERY EARLY YEARS

A BEACONHOUSE SCHOOL
Dear Parents,

We are writing to tell you about an exciting project we have started in our class.

As you know that we in Discovery focus on Project-based learning that is student centered instead of using a rigid lesson
plan that directs a learner down a specific path of learning outcomes or objectives, project-based learning allows in-depth
investigation of a topic worth learning more about. With Project Based Learning, children learn to plan and research, ask
questions, make choices within alternatives, and apply knowledge gained within their regular classes. They gain a chance
to have real life experience and can think analytically.

Our project is called “My Place My Problems”

Students will be actively involved in identifying, inquiring and describing natural and build up features in rural
and urban communities. Learners will compare localities of urban/rural areas using various sources i.e.
interviews, surveys, questionnaires, Venn diagrams. Learners will build a 3D version of the city and village. They
will be identifying problems of both places and will be suggesting solutions of the problems through research.

Students will be assessed individually on their content knowledge, their collaboration skills and their
presentation skills.

As a parent, we would be obliged if you can discuss

the project at home, encouraging the child to think
about it and ask questions about the topic.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any

questions about the project.

Sincerely,

Shumaila Imran and Tayyiba Khalid
