    INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING BILL:
    H.R.# 230

    BILL

    TO ESTABLISH A BAN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC STRAWS


    BE IT ENACTED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND
    THE UNITED STATES SENATE IN
    CONGRESS ASSEMBLED, THAT

    1. Purpose & Goals: To establish a federal ban on single-use plastic straws in order to protect
    2. marine life preventing living things from ingesting plastic material.
    3. Section 1: U.S. will cease production of single-use plastic straws to prevent further damage to
    4. the environment.
    5. Section 2: All stores are prohibited from placing single-use plastic straws for sale and from
    6. accepting any single-use plastic straws to stock.
    7. Section 3: Stores may only provide reusable straws instead of the single-use plastic straws.
    8. Section 4: Stores must provide a collection service for single-use plastic straws.
    9. Enactment Date: This bill shall take effect 150 days after the passing of this bill.
