SIR/ MAAM:

The St. Scholastica Village Chapel Youth Choir, a partner of the Philippine Educational Theater
Association (PETA) thru its PETA Lingap Sining Project, and a grantee of the PETA Lingap Sining
Cultural Partnership Grant will be holding the “Musika ng Kabataan, Tungo sa Katatagan” Advocacy
Tour on DRR and Resiliency with a minimum target audience of 1000 youth from Palo, Tacloban and
Dulag. The advocacy tour will showcase original songs composed by select members of the Choir
together with three talented young students from St. Therese Educational Foundation of Tacloban,
Inc., who attended Devising, Song Writing and Arranging Workshops sponsored by PETA. The songs
vary from topics like Drugs, EJK, OFW’s, Caring for our Environment, and DRR to name a few, all in
line with the theme of PETA Lingap Sining which is “Resiliency Amidst Adversities.” Through our
songs, we aim to educate the youth about the importance of Disaster Risk Reduction, and how they
can become Resilient amidst the challenges that we face in our daily lives- in ourselves, our family
and the society.

On January 19, 2018, we will be holding our advocacy tour at Palo National High School with high
hopes based on our agreement with the said school that 800 students composed of six sections will
be required to attend the activity as part of their MAPEH subject. We need said number of pax to
achieve our minimum target audience since we have only covered 200 pax in four venues- two
Barangays and two High Schools of Palo. At the outset we scheduled the advocacy tour on a
Saturday since the members of the choir are also students. Said schedule however did not yield
positive results since we experienced low audience turnout when the activity is conducted on a
Saturday. Schools are having hard time to secure the attendance of their students since weekends
are the only time students can take a rest from school work. If this trend of audience turnout will
continue, we will be way behind schedule since the advocacy tour will run only until the end of
February. We are hoping to achieve our minimum target audience in a short span of time to afford
less hustle to our members who are also students and who also need to study so that they can pass
their subjects. Palo National High School with its promise of an outstanding number of students is
our hope to achieve our target audience in no time.

In line with this we would like to request that (Name)_________________________________,

(Grade and Section)__________________________________________, a member of the St.
Scholastica Village Chapel Youth Choir be excused from his/her classes on January 19, 2018 from
1:00-5:30 pm because he/she will be performing in the “MUSIKA NG KABATAAN, TUNGO SA
KATATAGAN” PROJECT ADVOCACY TOUR at the Palo National High School Gymnasium. Requesting
further that she is given make up quizzes and recitations if ever he/she fails to do so by reason of the
said activity.

Sincerely yours,
