Portfolio Artifact Description: Dream Home-Using drawing tools to create a 2

dimensional layout of a home.

What you learned: This dream home project was a lot harder than one would think it
would be. Using the tools that you are given and knowing what goes where needs a lot
of thinking. From what I thought, this project took a lot longer than what I had
expected, trying to sketch it out right off my computer did not help. After about forty-
five minutes of being on my computer I then realized I need my good old paper and
pencil to really get this ball rolling. My dream home has always been a single story with
a couple of rooms and a large living room and kitchen, I started by outlining my house
and when I had my shape I started to think about where I would place the bedrooms,
living rooms and kitchen. After erasing so many lines I finished sketching out my blue
prints it was a lot easier to draw them on my computer using the drawing tools I had. I
just needed more practice with getting the line straightened out and knowing what
angles to work with.

Application of skills learned for the future: It was great having to do this project. I
think this project will have children using their imagination and learning how to connect
lines and as well as using different angles and shapes. It can also be a group project by
having them not only design a dream home but possible a dream amusement park, it
would also help them with their social skills. i could see myself doing a project like this
and having them possibly turn it into 3D with k’nex and showing them how it all
connects and works.
