Room 111 News!

This week we talked about migration. We learned migration is when animals fly south or
to another place for warmer weather since they don’t like the cold winter. We then talked about
some of the animals that migrate, and we did a sorting game to sort the animals that migrate
and the animals that hibernate. Next week will be our last week in this unit and we will discuss
what happens when the animals come out of hibernation or back from migration. After, we will
start our next unit: Construction!
For Second Step this week we talked about joining a friend to play. We practiced saying
“Do you want to play with me?” and “Can I play with you?” at circle, and then used those
questions during free play!
Don’t forget to complete your registration by March 6th.​ If you do not complete your
registration by March 6th, you may not be given your preference of AM or PM.​ If your
session preference is important to you, it is critical that you register by the deadline!

Speech:
In speech this week, the children played “Don’t Break the Ice” with Ms. F! We practiced
sound production, turn-taking, answering “wh” questions, following directions, speaking in
grammatically correct sentences, increasing utterance length, commenting to peers and
initiating peer interactions.
Ms. F also read “Little Home Bird” with the children. The children practiced answering
“wh” questions and made predictions while reading the story. They also learned about birds that
migrate to warmer weather in the winter.
Ms. F ran an Expanding Expressions group with the letter F. The students sang “F is a
Consonant”, the Expanding Expressions song, and then took turns erasing letter F items on the
promethean board. The students then practiced describing the letter F items.
