Room 111 News!

This week we started our theme “All About Me.” We will have one theme each
month and do various activities that correlate with it. This week we worked more on
learning each other’s names, seeing if we had more girls or boys in the classroom, and
talking about our families. Next week we will continue talking about our families. If you
haven’t already, please bring in a family picture for the class.
We also introduced the calendar in the classroom that is part of our new math
curriculum, Bridges. We will be doing calendar every day. The Bridges theme for the
month is apples. We will be using apples to help us practice math concepts such as
patterning, 1-1 correspondence, and counting.
Lastly, we had a really fun and messy time tie dying tshirts! We will wear the
tie-dye shirts September 14th. Have a great long weekend!

Speech:
In speech this week, the children made play-doh cookies with Ms. F! While making the
cookies they practiced turn-taking, speaking in grammatically correct sentences, labeling and
identifying vocabulary, following directions, sound production, commenting to peers and
initiating peer interactions.
Ms. F also read the book “All Kinds of Children.” We learned how children, including
them have similarities and differences. While reading the book the children practiced answering
“wh” questions and made predictions. They also practiced raising their hand to share their
thoughts about the story.
