Literacy Goal Team

Goal for 2017-18: By June 2018, Brogden will meet or exceed growth in Reading,
and achieve an overall proficiency rate of 33%.

PBIS Goal Team


Goal: Using positive behavior interventions, overall suspensions will decrease by
15% by the end of the 2017/2018 school year.

Action Steps:

1. Improve Dragon Dollar rewards by grade level and as a whole school (grade level Dragon
stores, school wide prizes such as skate party, bowling party, karaoke, Friday fun day, pep rally
entrance, free tickets to dances or sporting events, etc.)

2. Hispanic females as TAs during Discovery, pulling from enrichment, providing for
remediation. *Interviews and applications needed for TA position

3. Student-led leadership roles in PBIS (Ex/ Dragon Depot, pep rally, quarterly celebrations).

4. School-wide Silent Lunch initiative: use a Google Doc spreadsheet as a school..

Action Steps
1. Love will talk to people over PBIS for “reboot” ideas
2. Pep Rally style event paid for by Dragon Dollars. Kids that can’t participate can do
remediation. Early release schedule used to allow time at the end of the day for event.

Math Goal Team


By the end of 2017-2018, Brogden Middle School students will meet or exceed growth in
math and achieve a math proficiency rate of 32% for sixth grade, 32% for 7th grade and
28% for 8th grade.

Sub-Goal: The proficiency rate of Hispanic females on the 2017-2018 End-of-Grade Math
Test will increase by 5% over the 2016-2017 proficiency rate.

1. Students will be identified for math remediation which will be provided during Discovery
period. Anticipated completion date: 11/30/17
2. Utilize iReady math instruction for students who are achieving one to years below grade
level. Anticipated completion date: 1/30/17
3. Math Goal Team members will share effective problem solving strategies with the Math
Department. By December 11, math teachers will select a problem solving strategy to
use in classrooms throughout the school. By January 12, teachers will have taught at
least one strategy to students and students will be using the strategy.
4. Math teachers will utilize data spreadsheets to track formative assessments and
progress toward meeting growth goals as determined by CDA results. Anticipated
completion date: 10/1/17
5. Limited English Proficient students, including some Hispanic females, will include math
remediation using Khan Academy during Discovery period. Anticipated completion date:
9/1/17
6. Identify Hispanic females who would benefit from a visit to an early college campus or
other nontraditional high school and invite them on a field trip to explore these options.
Anticipated completion date: 3/30/17
7. Create a Coding Club either during the school day or after school to encourage interest
in real world mathematics. Anticipated completion date: 1/30/17
