RANKED IN THE ACADEMIC TOP TEN AT THE

INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF MACOMB (2017)
To be ranked eighth in my graduating class at such a
rigorous high school is an award unparalleled by any other.
My high school is ranked on the state level, as well as the
national level for its level of rigor and college readiness.
Being surrounded by such bright students, who were all
pursuing the same quality education that I was, really
motivated me to work hard to achieve the ranking that I
did. It was important to me to attend school with peers
that were as diligent as I was, and still am, about creating
the best future that I possibly can for myself.

MICHIGAN SCHOOLS BAND AND ORCHESTRA

ASSOCIATION SCHOLAR INSTRUMENTALIST AWARD
(2017)
This award is the highest honor that can be given to a
band student at the International Academy of Macomb.
Each year, my band director selects one individual out of
the entire school to nominate for the award. The criteria
for the award includes excellent performance, as well as
advancement academically as well as musically.
Extracurricular and music related activities are also
considered. The merit of my performance under these
criteria was also taken into consideration. The award is
especially important to me because I felt that it was
recognition for all of the practice and dedication that I
have always put into my music. I was first chair flute and
piccolo of the symphonic band at my high school, and I
could not have been prouder to lead my section of flutes
for multiple years.
