Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in
your classroom:
In this activity, the students will be assigned KidPub to create their own narrative story. There
they will publish their writing and be able to review their classmates. The students will be able to
review and make critiques to other student’s work allowing them to work on their writing and
peer editing skills.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? Computers and internet.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them
may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: Students will be able to publish their original work as well as
read, and critique other students writings from around the world.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): The students
will be creating an original writing piece on KidPub.
c. Higher-order thinking: The students will be using critical thinking by creating their
own narrative in well elaborated events using the dramatic structure to implement
exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: The students will publish their work to KidPub for other students to read.

This is a level 4 of technology implementation. The students are creating and publish original
work to an audience that cares.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your district’s
Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? The teacher will first submit a request of approval

to the administration and parents before assigning the online site to the children’s project. Once
approved the teacher will the students will create their own narrative in well elaborated events
using the dramatic structure to implement exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and
introduce safety and privacy strategies with the students and parents. They will also monitor the
students as they implement this technology with the writing assignment.
