Shoppers Stop has supported many social concerns
through various initiatives taken
at Company level by deploying measures and technology,
at Associate level by motivating staff to support the cause,
and as a Catalyst by creating awareness amongst
Customers and encouraging them to support the cause

BestPrax Prize for Green Initiatives

 Shoppers Stop has received the


BestPrax Prize under the
project Innovative Eco Friendly
Practices for its collective Green
Initiatives during the 23rd
Qimpro Convention conducted
by KPMG in September 2011

M/s Qimpro has pioneered the quality movement in India through professional services and
has over the years, distinguished itself in planning and implementing the recognition process at
the national level. Since inception in 1987, Qimpro has provided services that have helped over
300 clients conduct over 5,000 projects and has developed and copyrighted the BestPrax
Barometer, a tool to measure the quality of business practices for good governance.
Energy Conservation

 In 2007 we formulated an Energy


Management Policy
 Taking it a step forward, we took up
“Environment Project A” and
deployed Energy saving and
conservation systems like
 Central Energy Monitoring Systems
(CEMS),
 Variable frequency Drive (VFD),
 LED,
 Rescheduling of Air Handling Units
(AHU‟s)
 16% reduction in Energy unit
consumption in LTL stores
 Year 1: Savings of 49 Lakhs units
(~4000 CER), Rs. 440 Lakhs
 Year 2: Savings of 30 Lakhs units
 Year 3: Savings of 12 Lakhs units
Water Conservation

 In the year 2006, Shoppers


Stop also overtook the cause
of Water Conservation and
rolled out two initiatives under
the same
 Rainwater Harvesting:
practiced in select stores such
as Rajouri Garden (New
Delhi) and Begumpet
(Hyderabad)
 Usage of Orifice; a small
device that controls flow of
water from the tap, thereby
reducing wastage. Orifice was
installed in 20 stores of
Shoppers Stop and also
distributed to employees.

 HomeStop has launched


„Back to Earth’, an
exclusive brand that offers
eco-friendly collections
across categories

 The products are made of


environment-sensitive
material such as recycled
wood, dead wood, recycled
paper, bamboo, jute, natural
fiber and cotton linen

 In continuation of carrying out

home, E-waste collection drive
was carried out at the Services
Office in August 2011

 During this drive E-Waste (i.e.


Electronic & Electrical appliances
Waste) was collected by
ECORECO; an organization well
known in industry for E-Waste

Mumbai Marathon – Jan 2007

 In 2007, over a voluntarily


participation twenty one of us
from SO including Mr. B.S.
Nagesh, participated in the
Standard Chartered Mumbai
Marathon – Half Marathon race
to represent Shoppers Stop‟s
support for CRY – Child Rights
and You.
Participation in the TEACH INDIA
movement by Times Foundation

 In association with The Times


Foundation, Shoppers Stop took up
a small initiative of employee and
space volunteering for the cause.
 Times Foundation in association
with „AAMRAE‟ an NGO for under
privileged children sent a group of
municipal school going children to
our Andheri store every weekend for
extra help with their school
curriculum.
 CCAs would spare time before store
opening to help these children cope
up with their home work and difficulty
areas
Blood Donation Drive

 Blood banks in Mumbai


experienced a shortage of blood
on account of H1N1 pandemic
 We therefore planned Blood
Donation Drives in association
with Think Foundation and the
State Blood Transfusion Council
(SBTC) at our Western Suburb
stores (Andheri, Bandra, Malad,
Juhu and Kandivali)
 Total associates who came
forward to donate blood : 337
 Total donation: 238 units of Blood
 If split into 3; RBCs, Plasma and
Platelets; then we have
attempted to save 714 Lives!!!
 Each Donor was presented:
 With a medal from SBTC
 A Certificate from SBTC
 A donor card that will facilitate
free of cost blood unit. The card
is valid for 2 years

 Shoppers Stop‟s popular youth


exclusive brand Life had
dedicated its Spring-Summer
and Autumn –Winter collection of
the year 2008 towards creating
awareness about environment

 Life merchandise was tagged


with sachets of Neem Seeds to
encourage customers to plan
them.

 700 neem saplings planted by


customers and employees, 3
lakh neem seeds distributed with
Life merchandise as part of
Think Green campaign.
Re-cycle by Life

 In the year 2009; exclusive


brand Life again dedicated its
collection to the cause of
environment conservation
under the theme Re-cycle

 All Life merchandise had


quirky messages around
recycling waste products

 50,000 pcs of old clothes


collected from our customers
and employees during the
Recycling campaign
Stand up for Child Rights
(December 2006)

 During the „Fly to Santa


Land” festival in Dec 2006
Shoppers Stop hosted a
donation drive for CRY –
Child Relief and You, across
all its stores in India.
 Customers pledged their
support to CRY by making a
minimum donation of Rs. 10
at the cash counters and
thereby hung a Christmas
decoration on the CRY tree at
the store
