B) Write the critical appreciation for the poem “Daffodils”.


Daffodils is a lyrical poem, written by William Wordsworth.
It conveys the message that nature makes us happy. The
poet being lonely sad and unhappy at the lake beneath the
tree in the daffodils garden. The poet writes about man and
the nature. This poem is optimistic in nature and has 3
stanzas with 6 lines. It follows the rhyme scheme ABABCC.
C) Summarize the poem “Daffodils”.
The poet was walking around through the hills and valleys, but he
felt all lonely and mopey. Suddenly, as he passed a lake, he noticed
a big group of yellow daffodils waving in the breeze. This wasn't just
some scattered patch of daffodils. We’re talking thousands and
thousands around this particular bay. And all these flowers were
dancing. The speaker’s loneliness was replaced by joy, but he didn't
even realize what a gift he has received until later. Now, whenever
he’s feeling kind of blah, he just thinks of the daffodils, and his heart
is happily dancing.

D) Identify the figures of speech:

Hyperbole The 6th line, ten thousand dancing in the breeze.’ The poet uses exaggeration to
describe that he saw a host of daffodils.

Assonance: 'Which is the bliss of solitude" (i) "And dances with the daffodils" (a) "They
stretched in never-ending line" (e)
Alliteration: It is applied for the word ‘h’ in the words ‘H’igh and ‘H’ills.
Personification: Dancing daffodils, lonely cloud
Simile Wandering compared to movement of the cloud – simile.
The second stanza begins with a simile comparing the shape and
number of the daffodils to the band of stars that we call the Milky Way
galaxy.
E) Annotate the given lines:-
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils.

These lines are taken from the poem “ The Enchanted Shirt”
written by John Milton Hay.
This poem is about the king who was irresponsible to his
subjects. He thought that he was sick so he called doctors
for himself. Whenever the doctor said he was alright, he
ordered to kill the doctors. One doctor suggested to sleep
with a shirt of a happy man and he will be cured. The search
began , but they found no man happy in the kingdom. The
king realized his mistakes and decided to work for his
people. This poem is a narrative poem theme honesty vs
deception.

In these lines, visual Imagery is used. In 4th line, the king’s


life passed under his eyes. He could see the sad kingdom
and all the lives passing by sadly. This poem follows the
rhyme scheme xaxa.
