INTERACTIVE

 WHITEBOARD

Directions: Using the template below, describe how you would use the interactive whiteboard in your
future classroom. Consider if your ideas is teacher centered or student centered. The learning activities
should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will view/use/benefit from students’
work.
Name:     Lauren  Collini
Grade  Level:  7th
Content  Area:  Math
Standard(s)  Addressed: MGSE7.NS.1c Understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the
additive inverse, 𝑝 – 𝑞 = 𝑝 + (– 𝑞). Show that the distance between two rational numbers on the number line
is the absolute value of their difference, and apply this principle in real-world contexts.

Bloom’s  Level  of  Critical  Thinking:
✔  Remembering       ✔  Understanding         ✔  Applying           ✔  Analyzing             ✔  Evaluating          ___  Creating
Description  of  how  to  implement  in  the  class:  Students  will  complete  problems  shown  on  the
board  on  their  own.  Then,  students  will  come  to  the  white  board  and  use  the  number  line  to  show
how  they  counted  the  numbers.  The  answers  will  be  revealed  on  the  whiteboard  after  the  student  has
completed  the  problem.
Level  of  Technology  Implementation  (LoTi):    This  activity  is  between  LoTi  levels  3  and  4.  The
problems  are  practice  based  (Level  3),  however,  the  problems  are  student  –led  (Level  4).

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal learning goal for the students is for
them to use technology and use visual methods to understand subtracting negative numbers.

Importance of technology: Using interactive whiteboards provides a modality to reach the needs of all
students. Information can be displayed in a variety of ways to assist students who learn in a variety of
different ways. Without this technology, some students may not have the same opportunity to learn in the
ways that they need.
Reflection: From this experience, I learned that it important to incorporate technology into the classroom to
meet the needs of students and promote student-led learning.
