What is agricultural biodiversity?

Agriculture is the science, art and industry of managing the growth of plants and animals
for make use of by humans. In general, agriculture includes soil cultivation, growing and
harvesting crops, raising and breeding livestock, crop farming, animal husbandry, dairy
farming, poultry farming, soil management. Biodiversity is the variety of different types of
life found on earth. Agricultural biodiversity is the result of the interconnectivity among
genetic resources, the surrounding and the organization systems and application that being
used by farmers.

There are four dimensions of agricultural biodiversity. First is genetic resources for food and
agriculture. As example, plant genetic resources, animal genetic resources, and microbial
and fungal genetic resources. Second is components of biodiversity that support ecosystem
services which include diverse range of organisms. Next is abiotic factors. As example local
climate and chemical factors, and physical structure and functioning of ecosystems. Lastly,
the social-economic and cultural dimensions. People depend on agricultural biodiversity for
sustainable life. As example, plants is important as our food sources, helps increasing our
economy and contribute in tourism sector associated with agriculture landscape.
