Fuel Price Must Be Dropped
Government should cancel the rise of fuel price done in the beginning of October
2005. Most of Indonesian people badly beg it for some basic reasons.
First, for industry, the rise of fuel price will increase their production cost because
the must pay more for fuel and electricity used in the process of production.
Consequently, it will rise the selling price for the product. If the product price is
increased, it will be hard for the product to compete with the goods from other countries.
The export will decrease rapidly and government will lose the income from exporting
goods.
Second, for workers, the rise of fuel price will force the company where they
work to limit the budget to low the production cost. One of the ways that is usually don
by the employees of a company is by cutting of the number or workers. It means
hundreds even thousands of workers will lose their jobs. The jobless people will increase
instability of nations because they will do whatever they can do to get some money, even
by doing crime. What a dreadful nightmare!
Thirdly,, for ordinary people. They must manage their finance to survive because
the rise of the fuel rice will increase the price of their basic need’s price. They have to
find alternative ways to survive; reducing the meals, postponing the buying of
unnecessary things or event for the from school. This is the worst.
]based on the facts above, considering the negative impact of the rise of the fuel
price above, government must cancel the rise and try to find other ways to cover the lack
of the national budget by not cutting the subsidy of fuel.

Good morning, ladies and gentlement
Thank you very much for the House of Representatives which had invited me to
give the speech concerning about the mystery sinetrons shown in many televisions
presently. My name is Budi Santoso, a lecturer at University of Indonesia majoring in
mass communication. Here, I represent the academics point of view about the subject we
discuss this morning.
As we know, there are many mystery sinetrons shown on Television stations
presently. The sinetrons depict horrible scenes about the spirit world. It is described that
spirits often disturb people by frightening them in the darkness, when they walk alone at
night or at the cemetery. The spirits are pictured as frightening appearance such as white
clothes flying corpse, shattered face copse etc. the show must be abandoned for several
reasons.
Firstly, it make a wrong perception of people especially children and women to do
activity at nights, for example going to the wells, even cooking at kitchen alone. How do
you fell if you always live in anxiety.
Thirdly, such kind of sinetrons waste out time to think unreal phenomena while we
are facing many kinds of living problems.
In brief, for the reason, I think television station must stop showing mystery
sinetrons. They are bad influences for people, frightening our children and destroying
their belief to god.
Thank you very much for your attention.

The Ducks and the Turtle

very little rain and the lake began to dry up. One of the ducks said to the other,” Soon,
there’ll be no water in this lake. Let’s go and look for another lake.” “Yes.” Answered the
second duck,” But first let’s say goodbye to our friend, the turtle.”
When they told the turtle they were going to leave, he said,” I’ll die here without any
water and without any friends. Take me within you.” The duck answered,” We can’t. We
are going to fly, and you have no wings.”
The turtle thought for a minute and then said,” Please wait here.” Then he went away
and found a strong, straight stick. He brought it back to his friends, put the middle of it in
his mouth and said,” Now if each of you takes me one end of the stick in his mouth, you
can lift me up and carry me with you “
“There is one danger,” said the ducks,” If you try to talk while we’re carrying you
through the air, you won’t be able to hold the stick, so you’ll fall down along way and
break your shell.”
“All right,” answered the turtle,” I promise not to talk while we’re in the air.” So the
ducks took the stick and flew away, with the turtle between them. All went well until they
were flying over a town. Then some people saw them and shouted,” Look, those ducks
are carrying a cat!”
First the turtle very proud of himself because of his idea he could fly. But when he
heard that, the turtle got very angry,” A Cat? I am not........,” he said, but he didn’t get any
further because he opened his mouth, the stick came out of his mouth and the poor turtle
